Living in Wilsonville, OR

Wilsonville is the most southern suburb of Portland along the I-5 corridor, with 18,000 residents. Wilsonville sits just three miles south of Tualatin and surrounded by rural land on all four sides, it is situated at the north end of the lush horticultural growing area of Oregon's Willamette Valley. Wilsonville is also the location of major high technology companies such as Mentor Graphics and Xerox. The Willamette River flows through town, and there are acres of public parks and gardens within the city. Wilsonville is a special place to live and to work. Located just 17 miles south of Portland and spanning both sides of I-5, Wilsonville is still a small community. A new planned community Villebois, is to the west of I-5 at the base of Parrot Mountain. The town square containing shopping, dining, and entertainment options continues to grow with new businesses. Surrounded by farmland and high-end small acreage properties, this is the perfect place for a country feel home or horse lovers. The very exclusive Oregon Golf Club is located on top of Pete's Mountain just east of Wilsonville. The schools are mostly newer with one of the newest high schools in the area. Wilsonville is in the same school district as West Linn, another affluent community in the Southwest suburbs of Portland.

Wilsonville homes range in price from the mid 200's to the millions. There are many quality neighborhoods with houses in the 300-450K range, , higher end homes, and on outskirts of town small and large acreage properties - some with exquisite homes. The Stafford Valley is part of Wilsonville, and adjacent to the city's boundary to the east and north. This beautiful valley with gently rolling terrain is a horse lovers paradise. Many homes with large barns and riding arenas dot the landscape. There are also miles of un-crowded roads for bicycling or a drive in the country with the top down. The Canby Ferry provides a connection to the past and a quiet way to cross the Willamette river if you are tired of the freeway. Take Advance Road to Mountain Road and then right to the Ferry dock. Two dollars to cross and it runs 12 months, with only a few closures due to high water or maintenance. Free for bicycles.

There are many dining choices at both ends of Wilsonville. Around the Costco at the North Wilsonville I-5 interchange are the usual fast food places. In downtown along Wilsonville Road there are a number of chain restaurants like Red Robin, and also a few local favorites. Try Wankers Pub for a cool beverage and some nuts. Try Country Grains Bakery, run by a local couple, for some fresh bread, a cinnamon roll, or an awesome deli sandwich. And for a great dinner try Abella Italian Kitchen. If you want to pick out a good book to read or do some research while in town Wilsonville Library is the pace. Just east of the town center on Wilsonville Road.
